Plastic drainage belt, also known as prefabricated vertical drain, is a commonly used soft foundation treatment material made of a continuous plastic core board wrapped with a non-woven geotextile (filter membrane). The core board acts as a skeleton, its raw materials are polypropylene, polyethylene or polyvinyl chloride, the longitudinal grooves formed on the cross section are used for water flow. The filter membrane is mostly polyester non-woven fabric, which plays the role of filtering soil and permeability. Plastic drainage belts have various shapes such as wave type and harmonica type.
The main function of plastic drainage belt is to form a vertical drainage channel in the soft soil foundation, accelerate the drainage and consolidation of the foundation, and improve the bearing capacity and stability of the foundation.
